All employees of Annapurna Interactive (Stray, Outer Wilds) resign en masse

This development does not affect the company’s agreement with Remedy to fund the development of Control 2.

Earthquake at Annapurna Interactive, publisher of games like Stray, Outer Wilds or What Remains of Edith Finch, among others. As reported by Bloomberg’s Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, all 25 employees, including president Nathan Gary, have resigned en masse due to disagreements with company owner Megan Ellison.

Apparently, these employees, in addition to the president, wanted to somehow separate from the parent company and have the video game publishing arm of Annapurna, which was still part of the company, operate independently. Ellison rejected this proposal outright, leading to the mass resignation of all Annapurna Interactive employees.

All 25 members of the Annapurna Interactive team collectively resigned,” said Gary in a public statement. “This was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make and we did not take this action lightly.”

“Our top priority is continuing to support our developer and publishing partners during this transition,” said Ellison. “We’re committed to not only our existing slate of games but also expanding our presence in the interactive space as we continue to look for opportunities to take a more integrated approach to linear and interactive storytelling across film and TV, gaming, and theatre.”

This event should not affect the projects that Remedy Entertainment has in conjunction with Annapurna Pictures, the division that will finance part of the development and release of Control 2, in addition to bringing the IP to other media such as film or television.
