Amazon Studios intends to leverage its recent purchase of MGM with new film and TV projects from major franchises for its platform.

Update:
Amazon bets on Robocop, Rocky, Stargate and more in film and TV: Where is James Bond?

Amazon Studios intends to make the most of its multimillion-dollar purchase of Metro Goldwyn Mayer - the mythical MGM - by preparing numerous projects for both film and television. According to Deadline, recently acquired franchises such as Robocop, Stargate, Rocky and Legally Blonde will receive new adaptations in both media. But what about James Bond? For now, there is no news about the future of the IP starring James Bond, who is set to get his own reboot after Daniel Craig’s departure.

Amazon’s new projects: Robocop, Stargate and Rocky

In the aftermath of Amazon’s purchase of MGM for an estimated $8.5 billion, there has been little movement on the legendary studio’s most famous IPs - until now. Amazon intends to capitalize on its new franchises in both film and television with new movies and series. Starting with Stargate, which will first get its own reboot as a movie before making the leap to the small screen.

The same goes for Robocop, which will get a new movie to continue the franchise. In addition, the Legally Blonde saga will finally get its third installment after years of no news. But that is not all; the Rocky/Creed universe will expand with new productions after signing a deal with Balboa Productions. And other series such as The Magnificent Seven, Fama, The Thomas Crown Affair, or The Pink Panther are already in the works. So where does all this leave Agent 007?

Since this is something that is still in the very early stages, it is still a long way off to know exactly when we will be able to see all of these productions. For now, we have to wait and be as patient as possible to find out how many of these projects will be greenlit and become a reality.

For now, there are no plans to expand the James Bond universe as a series, so we’ll have to wait for a future announcement of a new actor for the role after Daniel Craig completes his stint as 007 in the movies.
