Update:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is about to get a significant boost, both for new players on the Nintendo Switch 2 and for existing fans. Nintendo is preparing to launch the Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, bringing enhanced features to the new system.

A New Era for Island Customization

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition focuses on leveraging the new console’s hardware to create a richer, more convenient island experience. Visually, the most notable improvement is the enhanced resolution, with the game running in 4K in TV mode, offering a sharper view of your meticulously designed paradise.

Players can utilize the new mouse controls with the right Joy-Con 2 controller. This feature significantly impacts decorating indoors, creating detailed Custom Designs, and composing hand-written bulletin-board messages, allowing for more precise input. Locating your favorite villagers becomes easier thanks to a new in-game megaphone item, which uses the Nintendo Switch 2’s built-in microphone to call out their names.

For those who enjoy playing with friends, the social experience has been expanded. Online sessions can now accommodate up to 12 players simultaneously, a substantial increase over previous limits, provided all players are using the Switch 2 Edition. Furthermore, a feature called CameraPlay allows players to connect a compatible USB camera to see their friends’ reactions in-game while exploring an island together.

Free Update Brings a Grand Resort and Better Inventory Management

All players will receive a substantial free update on Jan. 15, bringing highly anticipated new features to island life. This update introduces a major new location: the Resort Hotel’s Grand Opening on the pier, run by Kapp’n’s family. Players will help by decorating guest rooms and bringing in tourists, a task that includes decorating based on themes and finding new furniture and clothing at the souvenir shop.

Island maintenance and inventory management also receive significant upgrades. The update introduces the convenient Reset Service, run by Resetti, to help tidy up an island for players seeking a fresh start. Storage concerns are also drastically alleviated, as players can now upgrade their home storage to hold a whopping 9,000 items. For Nintendo Switch Online members, the update introduces the Slumber Island exclusive, which lets players design and save up to three separate islands and play on them with friends online.
