Apex Legends marks its seventh anniversary with Season Breach and new rewards
Free Legends, Mythic cosmetics, and Bot Royale Evolved arrive alongside sweeping gameplay updates.

Apex Legends is turning seven, and Respawn Entertainment is celebrating the milestone by shaking up the foundations of the Outlands with the latest season: Breach. The latest update introduces a literal breakthrough in gameplay with Hardlight Mesh, a new environmental feature that promises to change how players approach every building and chokepoint. These destructible and repairable windows allow squads to see their enemies while remaining protected—until the glass is shattered. Players can use explosives, shotguns, or melee attacks to smash through and create new lines of sight, while Controller Legends gain the unique ability to repair and even reinforce these meshes beyond their original strength.
Aggression meets fortification
The character meta is receiving a significant “push and pull” adjustment. On the offensive side, Fuse becomes a high-mobility threat with the new Knuckle Jumper upgrade, allowing him to leap into the fray rather than just lobbing grenades from afar. Bloodhound also sees a massive buff to their tracking capabilities, with a reduced Ultimate cooldown and the ability to extend the hunt by scoring knockdowns.
Conversely, defensive players have new tools to hold the line. Catalyst’s spikes are now faster and can be hidden from view, and her Dark Veil ultimate can now be deployed horizontally. This creates a massive barrier that not only blocks vision but actually cuts incoming bullet damage in half, making it a true “powerhouse” for reset situations.

Listening to the Community: Ranked and Loot Changes
Following two seasons of experimentation, the development team is removing the Drop Zone system from Ranked matches. Lead Designer Clement Bachellerie explained that while the goal was to reduce early-game chaos, the random nature of POI assignments felt too much like “RNG” for a competitive mode. Ranked will now return to the traditional drop ship, putting the strategy of where to land back into the players’ hands.
The loot pool is also getting a much-needed cleanup to reduce clutter. Knockdown Shields have been removed as ground loot; their strength is now tied directly to your Legend Level, rewarding survival and combat progression. Similarly, all players will now spawn with a White Level 1 Backpack, further streamlining the early-game looting phase.

It is incredible to think that it has been 7 years since Apex Legends dropped. To mark the anniversary, players can participate in a month-long celebration featuring community-created rewards and the chance to unlock four Legends—Valkyrie, Revenant, Conduit, and Sparrow—permanently by completing weekly challenges. The event also introduces the Breach Battle Pass, featuring tactical “SWAT” themed skins and the debut of a Mythic Peacekeeper. For those looking for a more relaxed experience, Bot Royale Evolved now allows up to five human squads to team up against improved AI, with full XP and challenge progression enabled.
