Within an industry that is full of remasters and remakes, there are times when you feel a saturation of these games, until we stumble upon one of our favorite games. Red Dead Redemption 2 is relatively recently released, nearly 7 years old, and it still looks and plays impressively. And while Rockstar has been no stranger to reworking their games over the years to continue to bring the experience to more players, the latest installment of this franchise is not exempt in Rockstar Games’ plans for a remake.

In an interview with TheGamer, Roger Clark, the voice of Arthur Morgan in Red Dead Redemption 2, did not rule out the possibility that it is already happening. “I think it’s already starting to happen. What’s also starting to happen is that classic games, games that did well, and games that still are able to hold on to their fandom are getting remastered now more than ever before. So, I don’t know, the data isn’t going anywhere, but the technology to refine its graphics is only just going to keep getting better and better.”

“I don’t think a remake of [Red Dead Redemption 2] is something that we can write off for the future, or a remaster,” Clark said. “We’ve already started to see it for GTA 5 and the original Red Dead Redemption. So, I think possibly it’ll remain in the limelight with modern versions of the same game, because the stories are what keeps the players coming back.”

Taking Rockstar titles further

Once again, Rockstar is no stranger to reworking its games to take them even to other platforms or give them some improvements. Beyond the most recent example being Grand Theft Auto 5, a title that has jumped across the last three console generations, we have other examples. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition reworked titles from almost 20 years ago to make them still playable. Another example would be Bully, a game that was born on the PlayStation 2 and came to the Wii and PlayStation 4.

After all, technology continues to advance and the opportunity to further polish such a diamond to shine on future generations of consoles is a tantalizing prospect for the company and for the millions of fans of the saga.
