Atari shows how to celebrate a golden anniversary

Atari together with Arcade1Up creates an arcade that will be the envy of any gaming room.

Update:
Atari shows how to celebrate a golden anniversary

Last year Atari celebrated 50 years since its creation on June 27, 1972, by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney in Sunnyvale, California. To celebrate this, the Arcade1UP brand, the same one that raised its hand last CES 2019 with its arcade replicas of the originals, has decided to release a small machine to celebrate the golden anniversary of the American pioneers in this industry.

A collector’s item

Packed with the games that define Atari’s history, this machine will be the envy of any living room as it celebrates its semi-centennial with a curated collection of 64 classics.

Among the titles we can find are:

  • Asteroids
  • Centipede
  • Crystal Castles
  • Dark Chambers
  • Star Raiders
  • Super Breakout
  • Swordquest
  • Tempest
  • Yars’ Revenge

These are just a few of what will undoubtedly be the largest selection of games included in an Arcade1Up machine, as other versions of the same brand will only include variations of a single game, as in the case of Street Fighter 2 or Mortal Kombat Arcade.

Atari 2600 games will dominate

Within the collection, there will be only 14 arcade games, the other 50 will be from the home version of one of the most famous consoles. One of the features that brings modernity to this arcade is that 14 of the available titles will have inline leaderboards to compare yourself with other users around the world.

The design

The brand that will be distributing this assembly assures that it will feature authentic ROMs and controls inspired by classic arcades, but will also feature upgraded joysticks and on-off light-up buttons, a light-up marquee, 3D molded light-up coin doors. In addition, the 50th Anniversary finish gives it a unique look that will make the assembly experience memorable.

Availability

Currently, this game is only available for pre-purchase on the Arcade1Up official website at a price of $499, with availability limited to the United States, and will begin distribution in October 2023.
