Obsidian Entertainment

‘Avowed’ release date was seemingly leaked by the developers, before being promptly deleted

It seems like Obsidian accidentally shared a potential release date for Avowed, their upcoming action RPG, on official Xbox media

Update:
Avowed

Obsidian Entertainment’s Avowed has been in development for quite some time. And while we’ve seen many glimpses of its gameplay and tidbits of the story behind the title, the one thing that eludes fans is probably the most important piece of information for many: when is the game releasing?

We still don’t have an official answer, even after the game appeared at the Xbox Games Showcase of Summer 2024 and the company’s preceding deep dives. However, it seems like the developers themselves may have revealed their plans unknowingly: a blog post on Xbox Wire about the game and its many features revealed an exact date of release, which was deleted almost immediately, but not before thousands of users saw it.

“The last few months at Obsidian Entertainment have been fast-paced and exciting,” wrote the studio on the blog post. “Since we saw you at the Xbox Developer Direct this past January, we’ve been busy with Avowed getting it ready for release on November 12, 2024.” As mentioned above, this information has been since removed from the article, which means that while it came from the studio itself, it should not be considered a definitive answer. Nothing is set in stone, as the game continues its development, but this lines up with their plans of release during Fall 2024.

Just this morning the studio also took part in an Xbox Games Showcase Deep Dive, which revealed even more information about the game and its many features. In it, it was revealed that the title will allow players to adventure through the entire game with a third person perspective instead of first-person, and many more interesting facts about the upcoming RPG.
