Baldur’s Gate 3′s launch has broken Steam

It seems like Steam is having issues with the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3, as hundreds of thousands of players are trying to download the game.

Update:
Baldur's Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 has finally reached its launch day, and hordes of players rushed to Steam to try and download the game as preloading was not made available. However, it seems like the platform hasn’t been able to accommodate all of the RPG fans today, as outages have begun to happen.

It was developer Larian Studios’ CEO and Creative Director of the game Swen Vicke how tweeted out the Steam problems, citing a screenshot of a report of Steam outages happening in line with the release of the game. The user reports of problems with Steam seem to have reached a height on August 3 at 9am PST/ 4pm BST. Vicke simply wrote “Sorry”, as it appears that the outages stem from all of their fans trying to download Baldur’s Gate 3.

As of this moment, the problems appear to persist for many Steam users. While we’ve been able to queue the game for download we’re not getting any actual downloading done. The platform states that Steam is “Busy”, which means that we’re all going to have to wait for our turn to get the game installed.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is here after years of Early Access

Those who have played Baldur’s Gate 3 Early Access have been able to experience the evolution of the game over the years, but the title has changed so much that the games are not compatible. For this reason, Larian Studios has tried by all means to make the transition as smooth as possible. Despite everything, the developers have published a guide to avoid possible problems. One of the recommendations they have provided is to have players uninstall mods and delete all save games. Then, it’s time to uninstall the game and wait for the final version to be available throughout the day.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is out on August 3 on PC. The PS5 version will not be ready until September 6. Until August 17, players will be able to obtain special rewards as Twitch Drops if you watch and support your favorite streamers.
