Black Panther is making the jump to video games thanks to Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts is backing a new studio to help them develop a full single-player action-adventure Black Panther title alongside Marvel Games.

Electronic Arts strengthens its relationship with Marvel Games. The company found a new development team to create an entirely new video game dedicated to Black Panther. The hero will jump into his first solo adventure in video game form, with him only being available in previous multi-hero affairs such as Marvel’s Avengers. This is everything we know so far..

A Black Panther AAA game by industry veterans

The project will be developed by Cliffhanger Games, a team made up of industry veterans. Among the franchises in which they have participated are Call of Duty, God of War, and Halo Infinite, among many others. Leading the way is Kevin Stephens, who worked at Monolith Productions during the making of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. His experience has already been contrasted in a title that successfully made its way among the general public.

We know that this Black Panther aims to be a production with triple A values dedicated to the single-player experience and with a third-person perspective. As the publisher expresses in a press release, with this video game they seek to “build an expansive and reactive world that empowers players to experience what it is like to take on the mantle of Wakanda’s protector, the Black Panther.”

Stephens notes that the studio is dedicated to offering fans”a definitive and authentic Black Panther experience.” To do this, they will give players “more agency and control over their narrative than they have ever experienced in a story-driven video game. Wakanda is a rich Super Hero sandbox, and our mission is to develop an epic world for players who love Black Panther and want to explore the world of Wakanda as much as we do.” The announcement coincides with the celebration of the 57th anniversary of the superhero.

This project is part of the two that Electronic Arts already revealed last year. There is still one more to be revealed, with an Iron Man title developed by Motive Studios having been announced previously.
