Call of Duty 2024 to be a Black Ops set in the Gulf War
The next game in the series is in the hands of Treyarch and has been in development for a long time, according to Windows Central.
It hasn’t been more than a few weeks since the release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, but there are already hints of what the next installment will bring. Windows Central exclusively reports that Treyarch is working on a new Black Ops, according to sources close to Activision Blizzard. It is a project that has been in development for a long time and is set in the early 90s, during the Gulf War.
According to this information, Black Ops “6″ still uses codenames internally (Cerberus is one of them), so its title may not be decided yet. However, in Black Ops Cold War the numbering has already disappeared, so it is foreseeable that the same thing will happen in this new chapter. Windows Central mentions the name Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War, in line with previous leaks.
What was the Gulf War that the next Call of Duty Black Ops will depict?
The Gulf War began when Saddam Hussein, then leader of the Republic of Iraq, decided to invade Kuwait, an operation that took place between August 2 and August 4, 1990. International condemnation was virtually unanimous and led to the Gulf War, in which the United States - with George Bush Sr. as president - and the United Kingdom - with Margaret Thatcher as prime minister - sent their armies, along with 34 other countries, under a UN mandate. After the war, the United Nations imposed a harsh embargo on Iraq, a punishment that caused economic and social problems and led to a second armed conflict, the 2003 Iraq War, this time led by George Bush Jr. and his allies (the United Kingdom and Spain).
As could be expected, this Black Ops will eschew futuristic technology in favor of a more traditional vision of war, in keeping with the weapons available at the time. Windows Central adds that Gulf War will try to seek the different perspectives of the various actors involved in the war, as well as the consequences of the end of the Cold War. Insider Gaming also assures that there will be classic Black Ops maps and a new zombie mode.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. Despite the very negative reviews, Activision has celebrated some records.
