Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 reveal may be coming next week, with Activision joking about leaks

It seems like Activision isn’t too bothered with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 leaks, even going as far as teasing a reveal sooner than expected.

Another week, another Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 leak, it seems. A new datamine has revealed tons of details about the next title in the Activision series. So what can the devs do other than make fun of the situation with their own “leak”?

As reported by MP1st, the CoD: Warfare 2.0 Season 5 patch that has just been released brought with it many items that will be present in Modern Warfare 3 once it releases, as well as key art that showcases the cover of the game, events related to its in-game reveal, and a seemingly official reveal date for when it’s all supposed to happen. This was all found through data mining, so far from being a confirmation of what’s to come it should still be treated as little more than rumors about the upcoming game.

According to this new leak, the reveal of Modern Warfare 3 inside Warzone is set to take place on August 17, at least according to the assets inside the latest patch. The official Call of Duty account on Twitter decided to make light of the situation with their own leak.

“Jokes on you, real key art here”, says the company’s tweet while sharing a crude drawing of a man with a hat and a gun, presumably Captain Price himself. “We’ll share our artistic abilities and even more next week.”

When will Modern Warfare 3 be officially revealed?

There is still no confirmation on when we will actually see the reveal of the next Call of Duty title, and while the leak says it’ll happen on August 17, Activision claims something is coming “next week”. Be as it may, we now know a couple of things about Modern Warfare 3. Chief among them is the fact that weapons and progression made by players on the last title will be transferable to the new game, a feature that has never been present in the franchise before.

This means that when MW3 arrives at the end of this year, you’ll be able to start playing at a higher tier of gameplay than those jumping in fresh. The leak included a list of weapons that will supposedly make the jump, which include many of the fan-favorite weapon unlocks in MW2.
