What is Casper about?
Casper (Malachi Pearson), a friendly but lonely ghost, has spent most of his afterlife living in an old mansion called Whipstaff Manor with his three dastardly uncles, Stretch, Fatso and Stinkie. He is hoping to find a friend. However, the greedy owner of the mansion, Carrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty), and her partner, Dibs, hire a ghost therapist named Dr James Harvey (Bill Pullman) to remove the ghosts so that they can collect the treasure inside. Casper falls madly in love with James’s lonely teenage daughter, Kat (Christina Ricci), who is also looking for a friend. Unfortunately, this creates distance between them, as Kat cannot be with Casper because he is a ghost. After regaining some memories from before he died, Casper discovers a secret that could bring him back to life. He and Kat set out to find it, but Carrigan and Dibs want to use it for their own purposes.
