CD Project RED

CD Projekt warns about the release date of The Witcher 4: bad news for fans

The Polish company is working on several other projects, including the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (Project Orion).

Everyone knows the most anticipated game of 2025 is GTA 6 (although millions might argue the same for Silksong, the Hollow Knight sequel). Still, some highly awaited titles, like The Elder Scrolls 6, Intergalactic, and The Witcher 4, are expected to arrive much later. Today, the spotlight is on CD Projekt RED’s highly anticipated RPG, and the news isn’t great...

The Witcher 4 won’t launch before 2027, it’s as simple as that. The Polish company has multiple projects on the table, and their CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, confirmed that the game shouldn’t be expected before December 31, 2026. This indicates that 2027 is their tentative goal, though it could even stretch into 2028 due to how development timelines have shifted in recent years.

Progress on The Witcher Remake and the new Cyberpunk

CD Projekt RED has several games in the pipeline, none of which seem poised for an imminent release. The Witcher Remake, a new open-world version of the first game in the series, is still in its conceptual stage. Similarly, Project Sirius, a spin-off of The Witcher, was rebooted two years ago and remains in early development.

Meanwhile, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (Project Orion) appears to be closer, though still in pre-production. It promises to be an incredibly ambitious game, further expanding on its predecessor’s vision.
