Charlie Cox (‘Daredevil: Born Again’) participates in Expedition 33 but hasn’t played it yet: “I feel like a total fraud”

Cox continues to receive congratulations from people for the game’s success, although he doesn’t feel particularly invested in its success.

Expedition 33 Charlie Cox

Charlie Cox is known among the public for his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, released last March on Disney+. However, what not everyone knows is that he has also participated by lending his voice in one of the best games so far this year, en.as.com/meristation/topics/clair-obscur-expedition-33/. The game has been a complete critical and sales success, and it would be a big surprise if it wasn’t among the six GOTY nominees at The Game Awards, but Cox has made a surprising revelation: he hasn’t played it... and it doesn’t seem likely that he ever will.

An immeasurable artwork and a great voice cast including Andy Serkis (Gollum) or Ben Starr (Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy XVI) were reasons for optimism. However, a small Gallic studio made up of Ubisoft veterans exceeded all expectations. But surprisingly, Cox doesn’t feel like a part of the success in a way, as he doesn’t consider himself a gamer.

“Apparently the game is awesome. I’m not a gamer, I have no idea, I haven’t played it,” Cox acknowledged at a convention about the game. “My agent asked me if I wanted to go and do a voiceover. I was in a studio for four hours, maybe. People keep saying how amazing it is and congratulations, and I feel like a total fraud. But I’m so thrilled for the company and that it did really well.”

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, legitimate candidate for GOTY

We are in the middle of 2025 and 2 great European RPGs stand as favorites for Best Game of the Year. One of them is Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, something that was more or less a foregone conclusion, but Sandfall Interactive’s game was a total surprise that revealed itself as a great JRPG created outside Japanese lands.

“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 undoubtedly transcends everything that makes it up—the story, the visuals, its biomes, the incredible soundtrack, its voice acting —but above all for the love that has been put into the art, which is reflected in the characters, the enemiesr," we said in our opinion.
