Chris Evans confirms the first major spoiler for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ even before Its release: “I can’t keep secrets”
The legendary Steve Rogers will return not only in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ but also in ‘Secret Wars,’ according to Chris Evans himself.

Chris Evans, the unmistakable original Captain America of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has surprised fans of the franchise by confirming in a recent interview that he will appear in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ (2027). The actor laughed as he admitted that he can’t keep secrets and revealed that he’ll start working on the upcoming film soon—which could be one of the first major spoilers for ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’
Steve Rogers will return in ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ which means he’ll survive ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
The unexpected revelation came via an Instagram reel. In a conversation about his future at Marvel Studios, Chris Evans replied quite casually that he already plans to join the filming of the next big Avengers movie. “I can’t keep secrets. I can tell you that I start work on the next one in a couple of months. I can’t tell you how much I’m in the next one, but I’m in it,” the actor said with a laugh.

Although the actor—best known for playing Steve Rogers in the MCU—avoided giving specific details about his role, his comments immediately caught the attention of Marvel fans. The reason is simple: ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be released before ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ so many are already interpreting his presence in ‘Secret Wars’ as a sign that Rogers survived Robert Downey Jr.’s character Doctor Doom’s deadly attack on the multiverse.
Chris Evans’ involvement in the upcoming ‘Avengers’ films had been the subject of rumors and conflicting reports for months. Although some sources suggested he would return alongside other MCU veterans, Marvel Studios had never officially clarified the extent of his involvement in its future projects. Therefore, these statements represent one of the clearest confirmations to date of Steve Rogers’ future in Marvel’s film productions.

As is often the case with major Marvel Studios projects, the studio is keeping almost all details related to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’—which premieres in December 2026—and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’—which is set to arrive in 2027—under strict wraps. Still, in a franchise built around all kinds of surprises, unexpected cameos, and plot twists, sometimes a seemingly innocent phrase is enough to trigger a whole avalanche of theories. Will Steve Rogers still be alive in ‘Secret Wars,’ or will he perhaps only appear in flashbacks or as one of his multiverse variants? The only thing that’s clear is that keeping secrets isn’t exactly Chris Evans’ greatest superpower.
