Crimson Desert returns to showcase stunning graphics: Here’s how the game’s massive open world will look
The creators of Black Desert are delivering a visually striking game, set to release this year on PC and consoles.

There’s no denying that CD Projekt RED set a new standard for open-world RPGs with the release of The Witcher 3 in 2015. The Polish studio introduced a massive, vibrant map brimming with engaging missions that captivated players. Since then, many companies have drawn inspiration from Geralt of Rivia’s adventures for their own ambitious games. One of the clearest examples is Pearl Abyss and their upcoming title, Crimson Desert.
The team behind Black Desert has spent years crafting an action-RPG with an open world designed to astonish players in every way imaginable. Following the reveal of its gameplay, thousands of fans were left in awe of the game’s rich mechanics and jaw-dropping visuals. Pearl Abyss aims to launch Crimson Desert this year and, to build anticipation, they’ve shared several videos showcasing features like the day-night cycle, realistic water physics, and Ray Tracing effects for indoor environments.

At an event in San Francisco, Pearl Abyss developers used Crimson Desert to highlight what makes their game engine stand out. With the BlackSpace Engine, the South Korean studio can incorporate Ray Tracing into the interiors of a massive game like this, while also delivering incredibly realistic animations for fabric and character hair. Water simulation is equally impressive, as another video demonstrated dynamic wave and tide creation, thanks to technologies like FFT Ocean Simulation and Shallow Water Simulation.
The worldwide release of Crimson Desert for PC and consoles is still some time away, but when it arrives, it has the potential to set a new benchmark for cutting-edge graphics. Do you think this open-world game could truly be considered “next gen”?
