Cyberpunk 2077 confirms release date for patch 2.0, details every free update

Update 2.0 of Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and we now know just what to expect from it, and when it’ll release.

Cyberpunk 2077 faces a key month this September for its permanence in the market in the coming years. On the one hand, there is the Phantom Liberty expansion, launching on September 26 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with Idris Elba playing an important role in the expansion’s story. On the other, the 2.0 update is on the horizon with a wave of free updates to match. CD Projekt RED has now confirmed when we can enjoy these improvements.

Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 release date confirmed

Update 2.0 will arrive to the base Cyberpunk 2077 game at no additional cost on September 21 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The news was celebrated with a short clip where we can see the Night City police special forces, MAX-TAC, in action, whose behavior has been redesigned to make it difficult for you to stay in the city when you commit a crime.

Among the improvements of the update, we will also find the complete overhaul of the skills system, which will see redesigned advantages added to exploit the build system offered by the game. If you have a game started, when you play the update for the first time you will receive all the skill points invested so that you can deploy them through the new trees as you please. We can also expect changes to the crafting of items, materials, and the method of collecting them.

All of these updates are coming alongside combat and chases in vehicles, something only possible so far in certain missions of the main plot. In fact, vehicle combat is one of the main features of the expansion, Phantom Liberty, only everyone will be able to partake in it without having to purchase it.

Through this link you’ll be able to find which features will be free and which locked behind the paid expansion, including a max level increase to 60.
