David Corenswet ('Superman') admits to overdoing his training: “I didn’t fit into any of my pants"

Corenswet admits to having problems with clothing because of the size he has reached.

David Corenswet’s physical transformation into the Man of Steel is one of the most spectacular in recent years... and it could have been even more spectacular. The American actor stopped by the microphones of a podcast these days to talk about his training for the filming of James Gunn’s ‘Superman’, and confessed to going overboard.

He’s not the first actor to arrive on the set of a superhero movie carrying too much weight - it happened to Christian Bale, who was asked by Christopher Nolan to lose weight - but Corenswet got to the point where he just couldn’t wear any clothes anymore and had to wear custom-made clothes.

Will Corenswet be the most angular Superman ever?

“I wasn’t 238 (pounds) when we started shooting. I was 238 at my max. I didn’t fit into any of my pants. That was at the peak of my bulk,” Corenswet said on the podcast ‘Manly Things (Sort Of)’. “And then I slowly lost weight before we started shooting. I started shooting at about 228, 230…I know I wanted this to be my excuse to see what it felt like to gain essentially as much weight as I could,” he concludes, admitting that he couldn’t even fit into a size 2XL T-shirt.

For those who want to know about Corenswet’s diet and training and become a Superman without the suit, you may be in luck as his personal trainer is eager to reveal. “David Corenswet worked his ass off; I can’t wait to share more of the training we did to prepare to play this iconic character,” said Paolo Mascitti, who has been preparing Corenswet for all these months.

‘Superman’ will be released next July 25, 2025, being the first film - not the first production - canon of the DC Universe of James Gunn, who will be behind the cameras of the same.
