‘Deadpool 4’ might remain a dream, as Ryan Reynolds says the merc is now only a side character
Ryan Reynolds has revealed the reason why he can’t imagine himself starring in a new Deadpool movie.

Everything indicates that ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ will be the last film of the character as the main protagonist. Despite its success, and the rumors about the desire of Marvel Studios to also keep Hugh Jackman in the role of the angry mutant, there are no future plans confirmed for none of them, and according to the words of Ryan Reynolds, neither does he have them, unless it is as a secondary character.
The reason is very simple, and it is that the work required to shoot a film of this size strains the actor, since in addition to starring in it, he also acts as a producer. Reynolds is at a time when he wants to spend more time with his family, and it is something completely incompatible with a production of this size.
“I don’t know, honestly, my feeling is that the character works in two ways: one is scarcity and surprise,” Reynolds begins explaining. “It’s been six years since the last one, and part of the reason is that it eats up my entire life. I have four children and I don’t want to be an absentee father.”

“I die a little inside when I see their faces, they play sports or something and I miss it” continues the actor. “I don’t know what the future will bring for Deadpool, but I know we made the movie to be a complete experience and not as an advertisement for another one to come.”
“Deadpool is more of a supporting character much more than he is in the center,” he continues to explain. “We have put it in the center because that is what they wanted, but you can’t do it unless you take everything away. You have to create a situation where he is almost an outcast. I don’t think we can do it again. If he comes back, it will be in someone else’s movie. Channing Tatum... I’d be happy if I was a fifth banana in his movie, or someone else’s”.
Tatum and Gambit, in Marvel Studios’ plans
Reynolds does not mention Tatum by chance, as Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, and other company executives, were delighted with his work as Gambit in ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’.
“I honestly don’t know what happens in meetings behind closed doors that are held at Marvel, but I know they are obsessed with him in that role,” Reynolds himself said at the time. “It is a situation similar to what I went through. Once you show it works, it’s really what they need. They just need to see you in action, and Channing is very unique in the way he plays that character., but he is also very handsome physically, and the way he moves and walks.”
