Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2: a quick first look while we expect Infinity Castle
Fluid and colorful combat awaits you.

If there is one popular anime whose return is highly anticipated, it is Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The story of Tanjiro and company will continue in September with the start of a movie trilogy in the Infinity Castle Arc. In the meantime, fans can ease the wait with a new installment in the world of video games. During our visit to gamescom latam 2025, we had the opportunity to briefly play Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2, the upcoming fighting game developed by SEGA that will be released in the middle of this year.
Fast-paced combat true to the anime
The demo focused on the battle mode, with 2 vs. 2 confrontations where we could choose from a mix of about 12 characters, including both members of the Demon Slayer Corps and demons. Each fighter has special abilities that are revealed when they are selected.
As for the gameplay, the word that best describes it is agile. Combat is fast and full of flashy combos. Each character has a repertoire of attacks and techniques, as well as special moves that are activated when an energy bar is filled. These include the Ultimate Art, which displays impressive visual effects on the screen.

The graphics maintain the visual style of the anime thanks to the effective use of cel-shading. The attacks are accompanied by colorful effects, particles and lights that faithfully reproduce the aesthetics of the series. However, we noticed some performance drops during certain sequences, especially when running Ultimate Arts, which we hope will be optimized for the final release.
Although the demo was very limited in the face of all the experience expected from the game, this one sees that it will deliver for fans of the anime. For now, Demon Slayer - Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is scheduled for release in the West on August 5, 2025, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam and the Nintendo Switch family of consoles.
