Denzel Washington’s advice to young people embarking on an acting career

The ‘Gladiator II’ veteran discourages other methods and encourages people to try the theater.

Despite being nearly 70 years old, Denzel Washington is more relevant than ever for his performance in ‘Gladiator II′, Ridley Scott’s new film. In the movie, the actor plays Macrinus, a slave trader who longs for the power of Rome after starting from the bottom. Denzel Washington’s character is one of the great attractions of the movie and could even get a more than deserved an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

At the premiere of ‘Gladiator II′ in Los Angeles, the actor spoke to an aspiring actor who was just starting to create his social media content. Denzel Washington gave him advice that could apply to anyone who dreams of becoming an actor: “You can’t learn to be an actor online, you gotta get on the stage, find a little theatre… that’s where I started. If you want what I got, do what I did. I’ll see you at work,” he explained.

An actor still riding the crest of the wave

With his performance in ‘Gladiator II′, Denzel Washington showed that despite his age, he still has a long way to go. However, the actor has already let it be known that his retirement is closer than ever, and that he still has a few projects to do after Ridley Scott’s film before he retires from the world of acting.

I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. It’s probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done. I played Othello at 22. I am about to play Othello at 70,” he said. “After that, I am playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking to Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next ‘Black Panther.’ After that, I’m going to do the film ‘Othello,’ After that, I’m going to do King Lear. After that, I’m going to retire,” the actor admitted in an interview with Today.
