One of the most popular sagas in the world of video games in the last decade has been Destiny, the first-person shooter by Bungie with RPG and MMO components that in its two installments has been a resounding success, launching multiple expansions that have continued to develop its universe. Now they’ve announced Destiny: Rising, the arrival of the franchise to mobile devices in a free-to-play format being developed by NetEase Games under license from Bungie.

Destiny: Rising will be available on iOS and Android and registration to participate in the game is now open for the launch of its first closed alpha, which will begin next November 1 in the United States and Canada.

A new step in the Destiny universe

Destiny: Rising is an action game that can be played in first or third person and will be set in an alternate Destiny timeline. An adventure in which we will have to defend the Earth of the future and claim the future of humanity. Ethan Wang, senior vice president of NetEase, highlighted that the game “will deliver a Destiny-caliber experience to mobile devices.”

The Chinese company NetEase invested a total of $100 million to become a minority shareholder in Bungie in 2018, four years before the studio was acquired by Sony in 2022. The synopsis of Destiny: Rising says the following: “Enter an era of heroes and legends, where familiar faces from Destiny meet intriguing new characters, each with a rich history, unique personality, and formidable abilities.”
