Don’t play this League of Legends champion, the new rift has destroyed their win rate
The changes in League of Legends are still being felt by the players, and the map has affected one of the most powerful top laners in the game.
Since the arrival of Patch 14.1 to League of Legends, the changes have continued to roll out and have begun to affect parts of the game’s meta. This update, which has changed part of the top lane in the Rift, has greatly affected one of the champions without even touching it.
Illaoi is the latest champion to be affected in League of Legends
The Summoner’s Rift hasn’t seen a change this profound since 2014, so it’s been a while since the width of the top lane increased. This has given the lane more room to avoid congestion, but it has also affected the way certain characters are played. This is the case of Illaoi, the Kraken Princess, and her tentacles, a collateral case in this update that is nerfed by the patch without really being part of a list of changes.
The growth in the top lane has meant that Illaoi’s tentacles now have a lower coverage than before. They were placed on the walls of the lane, waiting for a player to pass by, dealing damage and slowing the character down. Now, with a wider path, the range of the tentacles over enemies has decreased, making it easier to avoid these types of traps.
This has caused the Kraken Princess to lose her advantage in close combat, especially in the top lane, resulting in a 5% drop in the character’s victory rate to 45%. It remains to be seen if Riot will somehow make adjustments to Illaoi in the future to give power back to her abilities, or if the community will find another way to use her in the game.
A great moment to be a League of Legends fan
With Season 2024 of Riot Games’ MOBA, many announcements have been made, starting with the impressive cinematic of the season called Still Here, which takes us to Demacia about 1,000 years ago, just after the Rune Wars. Speaking of amazing animations, the first teaser for Arcane Season 2 was also shown, which is scheduled for release in November of this year.
