What is Vanguard? The Valorant software that is now coming to League of Legends

As part of the changes Riot Games is making to LoL, this software is a core part of the Valorant ecosystem and will help users fight cheaters.

Update:
What is Vanguard? The Valorant software that is now coming to League of Legends

League of Legends Season 2024 has arrived, bringing with it changes and improvements for players. One of these changes is an acquaintance of Valorant players and the software called Vanguard. For those who are not familiar with this change, we explain what it is for and what led Riot Games to implement it in their MOBA.

Vanguard Comes to the Aid of League of Legends

Last week, through a press release were revealed the changes that came to League of Legends, and within the section of those who are part of the system, that Vanguard would be integrated into the MOBA, this due to “as a response to the feedback around high number of bots in games, disruptive smurfs in Ranked, and an increase in scripting.” The implementation of this system, which is already part of the Valorant ecosystem, will also “allow for live match termination and refund LP to players in games with/against detected cheaters and bots.” This will be integrated between February and March.

But what is Vanguard? As we mentioned, this system is not new to Riot Games games, as it is Valorant’s anti-cheating system, “designed to uphold the highest levels of competitive integrity for our offerings”.

This system is software developed by the company itself and, according to its support page, “with a priority on both game safety and personal computer safety.” It runs as soon as you turn on your PC, even if you are not playing League of Legends or Valorant, and constantly looks for any program that it considers a weakness in the anti-cheat systems.

At the time of its launch, it had issues with the community due to its always-on measures, and there were even reports of problems with commonly used software and computer peripherals. However, Riot has made the necessary adjustments to focus only on game-related software.

A great moment to be a League of Legends fan

With Season 2024 of Riot Games’ MOBA, many announcements have been made, starting with the impressive cinematic of the season called Still Here, which takes us to Demacia about 1,000 years ago, just after the Rune Wars. Speaking of amazing animations, the first teaser for Arcane Season 2 was also shown, which is scheduled for release in November of this year.
