‘Dragon Ball GT’: The Never-Seen Transformations of Cell and Frieza

Toei Animation created in 1997 two very strange versions of the mythical villains of ‘Dragon Ball’ that never saw the light of day in animation.

If ‘Dragon Ball GT’, the non-canon anime series of the ‘Dragon Ball’ universe by Toei Animation, is remembered for anything, it is for presenting some of the most surprising and outlandish transformations of the franchise, such as the Super Saiyan 4 level that caused so much talk at the time. Moreover, this anime offered fans new perspectives on some of their favorite characters from Akira Toriyama’s manga, although some were left out, such as Cell or Frieza, the latter with some prominence in more recent series such as ‘Dragon Ball Super’. In fact, Toei created two new transformations for both villains that never saw the light of day except in a live show at the time.

This is how the ‘GT’ versions of Cell and Freezer looked like

Thanks to the work of artist Sr_Kob, we can finally see what these two new versions of two mythical villains of ‘Dragon Ball’, Cell and Frieza, looked like, two transformations that were specially designed for a live show based on ‘Dragon Ball GT’ that took place in Japan in 1997 and that you can see below. Of course, these two unpublished and non-canon evolutions of Freezer and Cell are something to see...

And in addition to this great illustration that shows both unseen transformations of Cell and Frieza in ‘Dragon Ball GT’, below we offer you the live show where both versions of these characters debuted. Two designs that never saw the light of day beyond this little show, and that could very well be the versions of Cell and Freezer from other universes, as shown in the Tournament of Power of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ and the representations of some characters from alternate dimensions.

Let’s not forget that Cell was recently resurrected in the movieDragon Ball Super: Super Hero’ in his Cell Max version, a storyline that is currently represented in the main manga of the series by Toyotaro and Akira Toriyama himself.
