Dragon Ball Super’s 103rd episode to be called ‘A Legacy Toward the Future’ after the death of Akira Toriyama

Early details of the episode indicate that it will conclude the ‘Super Hero’ arc, and there is talk of a possible hiatus before Toyotaro takes the reins and begins the final saga.

The first sketches of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ episode 103 have already appeared on the Internet, and the most interesting thing about them is the confirmation of the name of the new episode, ‘A Legacy Toward the Future’. It is unknown if the title was planned before the death of Akira Toriyama, but there are few better tributes. Also, it seems that this is the chapter where the torch is passed to Toyotaro, or in other words, one of those episodes you read with tears in your eyes.

Scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2024, on Manga Plus, the chapter will follow the fight between Goku and Gohan and, according to the leaks, will also put an end to the current arc of the manga, in which the events narrated in the movie “Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero” were adapted (and expanded). Many rumors also suggest that there will be a break after the chapter is announced, giving Toyotaro some time to assume his new position and face the end of the series that Toriyama predicted, but they are still just that, rumors, so we will have to wait for an official confirmation.

After the tragic loss of Akira Toriyama, many fans re-read chapter 102 of ‘Dragon Ball Super’ and discovered a clear parallel between Goku’s relationship with Gohan and Toriyama’s relationship with Toyotaro. What if, by asking him to draw such a battle that had been expected for years, the author was also encouraging his student to show that he was ready to take the baton and lead himself?

What if Toriyama, aware of his health problems, wanted to rehabilitate his faithful squire and test him for the great battles and adventures that await him in the future when he inherits the saga? Maybe the fact that he corrected one of the most criticized aspects of Goku (being a bad father) also indicates that the author wanted to correct some mistakes before he left. Doesn’t “Dragon Ball Daima” resolve what happened in “Dragon Ball GT”? These are questions that will remain unanswered and that will in no way fill the terrible and icy void that the news has left in everyone’s hearts.
