Dwayne Johnson slams Paris wax museum over skin color of his statue

The Rock vows to update his wax statue at the Grévin Museum in Paris after controversy over the light skin tone he was given.

Update:

The Grévin Museum in Paris is home to one of the most prestigious galleries of wax figures in the world, but it didn’t quite make the cut with its latest addition. The recently unveiled statue of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has not taken long to attract attention and go viral on social media for its skin color, which is much lighter than that of the actor, who has also spoken out about it:

For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum, in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements — starting with my skin color. And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself.”

The actor responded by quoting a monologue by comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr. in which he lambasted the statue. “You made The Rock look like he David Beckham. It looks like The Rock ain’t never seen the sun a day in his life. Is this how y’all felt when you lost The Little Mermaid? I understand. Let’s do Google reverse, y’all get the Little Mermaid back, we get The Rock back.”

The funny thing is that a few weeks ago when the figurine was released, The Rock released a statement saying that he loved it. Did he write it without seeing it? If he wrote it...

With more than 500 figures in its collection, the Grévin is so prestigious that it only adds figures from time to time. The figure of The Rock, in fact, came to fill the vacancy left by Vladimir Putin, withdrawn after the invasion of Ukraine. It was chosen by popular vote, winning with 48% in a vote in which there were candidates such as Dua Lipa, Margot Robbie, Zendaya, Elon Musk, Chris Pratt, and Selena Gomez.

Clearly, even the best stumble sometimes.
