Update:
EA Sports F1 24 aims for so much realism that you'll feel like you're watching a real race on TV

We continue our preview of EA Sports F1 24 a few weeks before its release at the end of this month. We’ve already looked at the general handling improvements, the updated career mode and now it’s time to review what’s new for tracks, drivers and teams in this installment developed by the Codemasters team.

Formula One is about authenticity

“Each season is as authentic and realistic as possible”. With that, Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters, opened up about the improvements coming this year.

For starters, players can expect improvements to the following tracks:

  • Silverstone - The legendary track has been updated to deliver an even more accurate version, making the game’s new control model feel right at home.
  • Spa-Francorchamps - One of the most requested updates by fans, this track will receive design improvements thanks to data supplied by Formula 1.
  • Lusail & Jeddish - An update that adds the latest changes and details that have been added to these tracks over the last few years.

More realistic pilots, in image and voice

One of the big surprises this year is that we will be hearing real voice lines from the F1 drivers, just like we are watching it on F1 TV. So when you play as one of them, you will be able to hear these comments provided by FOM (Formula One Management). Incidents, accidents, crossing the finish line, frustration or victory, everything is included.

On the other hand, the drivers have been redesigned to look even more realistic. Improvements to the eye and skin shaders have been incorporated to make them look even closer to real life. This will be most noticeable in the cutscenes, in the season intro. This will also be included in the iconic pilots. So you can find more realistic versions of James Hunt, Juan Pablo Montoya, Pastor Maldonado and others, considering that you can also race as them.

More realistic vehicles

On the other hand, the realism is not only in the representation of the racers, but also in the equipment. The team at Codemasters has refined its work on the modeling of the vehicles, using CAD models of the cars and dynamic diffuse global illumination software to improve the aspect of lighting, shadows and reflections, so that the vehicles always shine.

2 Formula 2 seasons

As part of the career mode, authenticity also comes to Formula 2. If you want to start your career in this category, you will be able to start from the 2023 season to be “chronologically correct” and move up to Formula 1 in 2024. However, there will be a post-launch update where the 2024 Formula 2 season will be present with updated single-seaters and racers.

FanZone with the most capable fans

A new Fan Zone is coming to allow players to show their support for their favorite drivers and teams. Everything you do in the game will help support the F1 Fan Zones and ultimately allow you to win the Fan Zone World Championship. It’s not about popularity, it’s about who has the most capable fans.
