EA Sports FC logo and first details of the brand revealed, first FIFA without the FIFA license

EA Sports will be unveiling the new brand in the coming days as it is rolled out in football competitions around the world.

Update:
EA Sports FC, FIFA

As the end of the season approaches, Electronic Arts is making the transition from FIFA to EA Sports FC. The company and FIFA did not reach an agreement to renew the licensing contract, so the new brand will start operating from the next edition. This morning, the studio took the first step, revealing the logo and other details of the product that will be the platform “to create, innovate and grow new football experiences.”

To promote its new image, the company has announced that “in the coming days” the EA Sports FC brand will be present in more than 100 matches in competitions such as LaLiga, Premier League, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, WSL, NWSL and Conmebol, among others. According to Nick Wlodyka, SVP and GM of EA Sports FC, there will be news about the video game in July:

“This is where the story of EA SPORTS FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together, and continuing to take it into a fan-first future,” he said. “EA SPORTS FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July.”

What is the EA Sports FC logo based on?

According to EA, the new brand is inspired by soccer and the many dimensions of the sport, which is why they chose to represent it with triangles. “From passing techniques to set plays, the shape has also been woven into the DNA of EA SPORTS football experiences for decades,” they argued. “From the isometric angles of our very first 8-bit experiences and the triangular polygons that make up every pixel of our most modern games, as well the iconic player indicator symbol that appears above every athlete in every match.”

The rebranding does not mean goodbye to the licenses. A total of 19,000 real players, 30 leagues and 700 teams. They also promise agreements with 300 partners that will give them the opportunity to experience “further expansion” in both women’s and grassroots football.

Available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC and Nintendo Switch, FIFA 23 marks the end of an era. Starting with the next edition, it will be called EA Sports FC. In the meantime, FIFA plans to partner with other studios to develop its own games.
