Eiichiro Oda discarded the designs of Blackbeard’s mother and sisters for One Piece
The world of One Piece is already massive, but its author has had to trash a few ideas, such as the expanded family of Blackbeard.
There are hundreds of characters that have made their mark in ‘One Piece’, and some, despite having known them for decades, continue to be a huge mystery for readers. One of the most enigmatic and powerful figures in the work of Eiichiro Oda is Marshall D. Teach, the pirate commonly known as Blackbeard (Kurohige), and about which there are multiple theories about his past, the place where he comes from, what he hides inside his body and that even his father would be the legendary and also mysterious Rocks D. Xebec, a pirate of enormous power who terrorized the world several decades before Gol D. Roger ruled the seas.
Among all the enigmas, there is also the question of who Kurohige’s mother would be, and in issue number 8 of the ‘One Piece Magazine’ which came out in 2020, we were shown concept art of Blackbeard’s supposed mother and two sisters. Curious designs in which Portgas D. Ace even appears reacting, and it has been theorized about these sisters that, in one way or another, they are still part of Teach, being those extra souls that the pirate is rumored to have.
The enigmatic Blackbeard
When we first met Kurohige in Jaya it was impossible to think that this common and classic-looking pirate would end up being one of the biggest threats, even the biggest, to Luffy and the world of ‘One Piece’. A figure full of enigmas and enormous power about whom, at some point, we will know everything about his past and origin, something that will surely not disappoint and will give us examples of how special a Blackbeard is, about whom it is theorized that even He has three souls inside his body.
