The Game Awards

Elden Ring: Nightreign, a full new game by FromSoftware, announced during TGA2024

After winning two GOTY awards with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Elden Ring, the studio that created Dark Souls and Bloodborne announces its next project.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, a full new game by FromSoftware, announced during TGA2024

The most successful Japanese studio of the 21st century was expected to attend The Game Awards 2024 because of Shadow of the Erdtree (the Elden Ring DLC), which broke all the rules and was nominated for the GOTY 2024 even while being an expansion, but what no one could imagined is that their presence had the objective of announcing a new game by FromSoftware: Elden Ring Nightreign. Apparently, it is a multiplayer title set in Limgrave, the starting area of the Lands Between.

What is seen in The first trailer for Elden Ring Nightreign suggests that we are facing a kind of Battle Royale, as the players seem to face a kind of storm or circle that gets smaller and smaller. Geoff Keighley has made it clear that It is a standalone game (a title sold separately, not an expansion to Elden Ring) and will be released in 2025. Curiously, many of the huge enemies shown seem taken straight out of previous FromSoftware titles, including Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and even Sekiro.

From Software, the best video game studio of the moment?

From a Demon’s Souls that Sony intended to reject to Elden Ring (the GOTY 2022) and its DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree. And in between, a meteoric rise of From Software with Hidetaka Miyazaki at the forefront, marked both by the phenomenon unleashed by the Dark Souls trilogy and by titles as special as Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the GOTY 2019.
