Elon Musk, the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), acknowledged in an interview that the social network, could get a monthly payment requirement.

During a conversation via streaming with Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, the businessman indicated that charging monthly for access to X is “the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots”

In the same interview, he did not reveal any details about the possible price of that modality in the case that it is reflected in X.

Deeper reasons for X to be a paid tool

In addition to the reason given above, Elon Musk pointed out that more than hundreds of anti-Semitic messages are published on X daily, to which he continued his speech explaining that the social network does not seek to promote hatred. Furthermore, of his approximate 550 million monthly users, he did not want to say how many are real versus possible bots.

In any case, it should be noted that in 2022, Reuters commented that the social network had 229 million monthly active users and that in November of that year, the numbers rose to 259.4 active accounts.

Elon Musk already charges for X

Part of the ideas that Elon Musk has have already been placed on the social network, such as charging for being a user subscribed to X (the now worthless blue tick), so the CEO of Tesla, already charges for usage services.

However, if a user of the social network has more than a million followers, it is not be necessary to pay to be a verified user. This decision was made last April, island revealed by the Daily Mail.

For now, we can only wait if the word of Elon Musk is fulfilled and X It becomes a paid tool or if it will remain as it is today.
