Elon Musk will remove the option to block on X (Twitter), although partially

The controversial owner of the social network continues to implement new policies, although his latest blocking idea has infuriated users.

Since Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, among other companies, bought Twitter (a platform that has been renamed X), users have been very upset by the changes that the platform has undergone. The arrival of Twitter Blue, which is nothing more than a paid version that offers exclusive features to those who subscribe, is one of the most prominent, although the one that has just been confirmed aims to be the most controversial.

No one could have imagined that Twitter would remove the blocking feature. This means that we will no longer be able to block a user from interacting with us. In fact, the only thing we can do is block them from sending us a DM (private message). At this time, Elon Musk has not specified when the blocking option will be removed.

How to block on Twitter

We don’t know if the Twitter users we previously blocked will remain blocked when the changes take effect. In any case, it is currently still possible to block anyone you see fit, so here is a quick guide to how to block users on X (Twitter).

  1. Click the three dots icon (...) that appears to the right of the name of the user you want to block.
  2. The sixth option in the list is “Block @[username]”.

The difference between blocking and muting

It’s a question many people ask: What’s the difference between blocking and muting someone on Twitter? Blocking is the most powerful way to prevent a user from interacting with you; when you use it, that user will no longer be able to see your profile, read your tweets, view your photos and videos, or quote you. If you want, you can see them, and you even have the option to unblock them. The person will know that you have blocked them.

If you choose to mute someone instead of blocking them, they won’t know you’ve done it. When you mute someone, you don’t see them anymore and their tweets don’t appear on your timeline. The muted user will still be able to follow you, see your tweets, and even be sure that you are following them, but all of their content will not be visible to you. Muting on Twitter is a way to lose sight of someone without them knowing it.
