Everyone hates Chadley, the Final Fantasy VII Remake character that no one wanted in Rebirth.

Not content with that, the heaviest android in the saga has built and programmed Mai, an assistant even more annoying than Chadley himself.

Update:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

If a ranking of the most hated characters in the Final Fantasy saga were to be made, Chadley would undoubtedly be on it - and probably lead it. There’s no proof, but there’s not much doubt. Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Hope has returned to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, much to the dismay of more than a few players who didn’t tolerate his presence in the previous title. The character has been designed specifically for this project, so he does not appear in the 1997 classic, which saves a few headaches, it must be said. Not only does the chatty and clattering android return, but he does so in a big way, bidding farewell to Midgar and appearing in every single one of the game’s key locations. Help!

The open world is a source of exploration and enjoyment until the transmitter sounds and Chadley’s annoying little voice begins its unbearable peroration. Countless dialogues follow one after the other, because most of the secondary tasks are related to his research: hunts, mako sources, summons, the combat simulator... well, it’s impossible to get rid of him. And the worst thing is that, although it seemed impossible, the world of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is home to another even more disturbed character (and no, it’s not Johnny or Roche ‘My Brother’, who also have their own thing).

Mai is the second most hated character

It turns out that Chadley has gotten creative, and not content with just regaling players with his jovial omnipresence, he has created an assistant who is just as annoying as he is, Mai. In the game, Chadley himself gets tired of her talking, interrupting her to shut her up, or turning down the volume to silence her. Ultimately, the culprit for this duo being such a pain in the ass is Professor Hojo, who created the assistant in the first place. Or rather, the Square Enix team, who thought it would be a good idea to introduce him in both titles. Who’s responsible for the psychological consequences?

There is little hope of getting rid of them. Nothing is known about the third part of the trilogy, but neither Chadley nor Mai were destroyed, so their return is more than plausible. Who knows, maybe they will do what George Lucas did with Jar Jar Binks and keep his appearances to a minimum. Dreaming is free.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is exclusive to the PS5. According to the Washington Post, at least the first two games will remain console-only on PlayStation.
