Ewan McGregor reveals that Lucasfilm is working on ideas for Season 2 of “Star Wars: Obi-Wan”
Will Ewan McGregor come back as Obi-Wan for a second season of the Disney+ show? According to the actor, it’s already happening.
Every time he is asked, Ewan McGregor insists that he wants to play Obi-Wan Kenobi again, and he is looking forward to stepping into the shoes of the Jedi once again, as there are still stories to explore. The first season of the series garnered quite a bit of criticism, but the production was one of the most successful on the ‘Star Wars’ slate, only behind ‘The Mandalorian’. The actor attended the Los Angeles Comic-Con and revealed that Lucasfilm is “exploring ideas” to develop a second season.
One of the attendees, Jamie Jirak, has revealed in X that McGregor wants to wear the Clone Wars armor and star in new flashbacks with Hayden Christensen, the actor who has played Anakin Skywalker since the prequels and who currently plays Darth Vader under the armor. In the first season, both characters appeared in a flashback with the aesthetics of ‘Episode II: Attack of the Clones’, but there were none set in that conflict. On the contrary, in ‘Ahsoka’ we did get to see Anakin in his armor.
The truth about Darth Vader
‘Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi’ was conceived as a limited series of only six episodes. Directed by Deborah Chow, the story takes place a decade after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’. In exile on Tatooine, the former knight lives like a hermit, always keeping an eye on little Luke Skywalker. After discovering that his apprentice is still alive, the Jedi regains his connection to the Force and faces his destiny.
‘A New Hope’ is still a decade away, which means the character can have more adventures. In fact, the initial project was thought of as a trilogy of three films and the first of them is equivalent to the first season of the series, although some changes were made.
