Experts rank James Bond movies from best to worst and find a clear winner
Only Daniel Craig can stand shoulder to shoulder with Sean Connery, the list’s top performer.

The debate over the best James Bond movie in history has been ongoing for decades, and it seems unlikely that a universal consensus will ever be reached. While we don’t claim to have the ultimate answer, we can take a look at specialized websites like Rotten Tomatoes. Their team created a top ranking list of the best Bond films based on the Tomatometer, a metric similar to Metacritic.
It’s no surprise that the winner is ‘Goldfinger,’ the 1964 film starring Sean Connery. Millions of fans have long considered it one of the best. Connery, on his part, remains one of the most beloved Bonds in history, with the top three spots on the list occupied by his films: ‘From Russia with Love’ (1963) and ‘Dr. No’ (1962).
Sean Connery Tops Daniel Craig
For many, Daniel Craig is their favorite Bond. However, none of his films make it to the top three according to Rotten Tomatoes. Once his movies do appear on the list, though, they dominate the spotlight, with multiple consecutive entries. According to the ranking, ‘Casino Royale’ lands 4th, ‘Skyfall’ 5th, and ‘No Time to Die’ 7th. Here’s the full ranking:
- ‘007: Goldfinger’ – 99%
- ‘From Russia with Love’ – 97%
- ‘Dr. No’ – 95%
- ‘Casino Royale’ – 94%
- ‘Skyfall’ – 92%
- ‘Thunderball’ – 85%
- ‘No Time to Die’ – 83%
- ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ – 82%
- ‘On Her Majesty’s Secret Service’ – 81%
- ‘GoldenEye’ – 80%
- ‘Licence to Kill’ – 79%
- ‘You Only Live Twice’ – 73%
- ‘The Living Daylights’ – 72%
- ‘Never Say Never Again’ – 71%
- ‘For Your Eyes Only’ – 69%
- ‘Live and Let Die’ – 67%
- ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ – 64%
- ‘Quantum of Solace’ – 63%
- ‘Spectre’ – 63%
- ‘Moonraker’ – 59%
- ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ – 57%
- ‘Die Another Day’ – 56%
- ‘The World Is Not Enough’ – 51%
- ‘Octopussy’ – 42%
- ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ – 40%
- ‘A View to a Kill’ – 36%
- ‘Casino Royale’ (1967) – 26%
I’s quite surprising to see ‘The Man with the Golden Gun’ ranked as one of the worst 007 movies, especially since the film where Bond (played by Roger Moore) faces off against the eccentric Scaramanga (Christopher Lee) is highly regarded among fans.
