The most underrated James Bond reacts to Amazon’s purchase of the 007 saga: ‘It’s sad’
The multinational giant now owns the rights to the Agent 007 saga after acquiring the rights from MGM Studios.

More than 60 years after the release of the first film, ‘Doctor No’, starring Sean Connery as the legendary original 007, the cinematic saga of the secret agent James Bond is entering a new phase. Now, three years after Amazon’s $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM Studios, the multinational giant has total control of the franchise, which has raised some concerns and doubts about the future of the James Bond character. Now actor Timothy Dalton, who played 007 twice in the late 1980s, has spoken out about the deal.
What does Timothy Dalton think about the future of 007?
So Timothy Dalton will not be remembered as the most emblematic James Bond of the big screen, although he did leave us two very underrated films such as ‘The Living Daylights’ and ‘License to Kill’, released in 1987 and 1989 respectively. A role he played between two much better remembered versions, such as those of Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. Now the 78-year-old British actor has reacted to the announcement of Amazon’s control of the rights:

“It is one of the few wonderful stories we’ve got in film that is British. The leading character is British. We can call it our own,” says the actor, who admits he has fond memories of his time as James Bond. Nevertheless, he has his doubts about the character’s future under Amazon’s tutelage:
“I have no idea what Amazon would do with it, and I have no idea what the relationship of Amazon to the Broccolis will be. But it is a damn fine series of movies. I was watching it when I was young, we all were. It’s been part of our lives, so anything that threatens it is kind of sad,” the actor continues.

However, Dalton has no doubts about Amazon’s commercial potential with the saga: “Amazon are quite capable of making it a hit,” and praises Barbara Broccoli, asserting that she is “one of the best women in the whole world”.
