Fallout season 3 is already being written, and Bethesda wants the show and games to feel one
The studio plans long-term storytelling that connects the TV series and Fallout 5.

Fallout Season 2 debuted yesterday, but Bethesda is already looking forward. Todd Howard, executive producer at Bethesda Game Studios, has officially confirmed that Fallout Season 3 is currently being written, with a broader strategy to bridge the gap between the acclaimed Amazon Prime series and the legendary video game franchise.
In a recent interview with Variety, Howard explained that the creative teams are working in tandem to ensure the show and the games feel like a single, cohesive world. “For us on the game and TV show side, we’re writing Season 3 now [...] We’re having those conversations now of, what are we doing in Season 3 for the TV show and what elements can we bring into our games at that time when it comes out that don’t feel forced or fake.”
A Unified Canon for a larger world
While Fallout 5 is still years away—as the studio focuses on The Elder Scrolls 6— Bethesda will take into account everything that is happening in the series. “In short, yes,” Howard told BBC Newsbeat. “Fallout 5 will be existing in a world where the stories and events of the show happened or are happening. We are taking that into account.”

This approach ensures that players’ actions in the wasteland will feel connected to the larger narrative being told on television. We have already seen the benefits of this collaboration; the Burning Springs update for Fallout 76 recently introduced The Ghoul, voiced by Walton Goggins, as a quest-giver for new bounty hunter missions. These types of crossovers provide players with fresh, free content that brings the show’s star power directly into their hands.
