Fan favorite Adria Arjona joins ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ though not in the role fans were expecting
The cast of ‘Man of Tomorrow’ welcomes Adria Arjona, one of the names most sought after by DC fans, who will make her debut in James Gunn’s new universe as Maxima.

The cast of ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is starting to take shape, and one of the actresses most sought after by DC fans has just joined the project. Adria Arjona has been rumored for months to be joining James Gunn’s DCU, and her casting has just become a reality, as she will make her debut in the upcoming Superman movie.
Arjona, known for films like ‘Hit Man’ and ‘Blink Twice’, as well as one of the most popular series in the ‘Star Wars’ universe, ‘Andor’, has always been at the top of fans’ minds as a potential Wonder Woman. Following the cancellation of the series ‘Paradise Lost,’ a prequel that would have told the origin story of Diana Prince, James Gunn made the next project starring the heroine a priority, although surprisingly—or perhaps not—it will not be the Puerto Rican-born actress who takes on the role.

In recent weeks, rumors have surfaced—which Gunn himself has denied—regarding the casting for the role of Maxima, a character linked to the Superman storyline. Several names were mentioned, but it will ultimately be Arjona who takes on the role, giving fans reason to celebrate—though perhaps not quite as they had hoped.
Why won’t Adria Arjona play Wonder Woman? Mainly because of her height; although the Puerto Rican actress isn’t exactly short, her 5’7” doesn’t seem tall enough to portray the heroine. Gunn’s plans don’t necessarily include a Justice League movie, but David Corenswet (Superman) is 6’4”, and the producer and director is looking for a taller actress.
Arjona thus joins an already extensive cast that includes Corenswet himself, Rachel Brosnahan (Lois), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Isabella Merced (Hawkgirl), Lars Eidinger (Brainiac), and Frank Grillo (Rick Flagg Sr.), among others.
‘Man of Tomorrow’ will premiere on July 9, 2027.

Maxima made her comic book debut in ‘Action Comics’ #645, written by Roger Stern and illustrated by Brett Breeding. Maxima is the queen of the planet Almerac, a world ruled by an extremely warlike and Darwinian culture, where power determines who deserves to rule and reproduce. According to that philosophy, Maxima seeks out the strongest warrior in the universe to make him her consort… and that is none other than Superman. Ultimately, Maxima is as obsessed with seducing Superman as she is with fighting him, to prove that he is worthy of her, which means she cannot strictly be defined as a villain.
