Dragon Ball
Fans find out that Goku ‘capped’ this power in ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ and the parade of theories begins
The technique of Teleportation or Instant Transmission is one of the big absences in the new anime; what is the reason?

One of Goku’s most common techniques in ‘Dragon Ball Z’ is called Teleportation or Instant Transmission, which is the ability to disappear and reappear instantly. However, in ‘Dragon Ball Daima’, Goku hardly used it and it has nothing to do with his new mini appearance. So much so that we saw Goku using his famous teleportation in episode 7 of Toei’s new anime to hide from the gendarmerie... And little else. Why doesn’t Goku use this technique more often in his battles and to travel faster through the Demon Realm? There are several reasons.
Goku’s Instant Transmission in Dragon Ball
Before we continue, let’s look back at what Goku’s Instant Transmission technique is and who he learned it from. Goku learned to use this technique from an alien race called the Yardrats after he escaped the explosion of the planet Namek in the Frieza saga. The first time we saw the use of this technique was in ‘Dragon Ball Z’ episode 123 titled “Goku’s Special Technique”, where we see Goku himself teleporting to Master Roshi’s Kame House to remove his glasses and bring them to the rest of the Z Warriors as a demonstration.

All this after fixing the phima of his ki in a place where he has been before, so that he can be teleported there. But why doesn’t Goku use this technique more often in ‘Dragon Ball Daima’? This new anime series aims to recapture the sense of adventure and discovery of Goku’s early adventures - and to introduce new quirky and fun characters - and that also means limiting the abilities of its protagonists in some ways, although it even bets on an unseen transformation like Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 3.
Why doesn’t Goku almost never use teleportation?
Because if Goku were to use Instant Transmission at every moment, it would be detrimental to the narrative of the anime. However, the limitations of the technique also affect its use. For one thing, the Demon Realm is on a different plane of existence, in another dimension, so Goku would not be able to travel there with his teleportation technique. Another major handicap is that the Tamagamis most likely have no Ki, so he could not suddenly appear in front of each of them to claim his Dragon Balls.

And even if they had ki, he wouldn’t know their location in the Demon Realm, so instant transmission would be impossible. However, many wonder why Goku doesn’t detect Dende’s ki, which he has known for a long time; why he doesn’t teleport to his location and simply defeat King Gomah to save his Namekian friend, now as a baby? For this reason, Dende surely does not emit ki because he is only a baby, so Goku cannot detect his presence.
It is even likely that the Demon Realm will prevent Ki users from detecting his presence over long distances, since it is a strange place where magic is part of its own ecosystem, to which we must add the presence of impassable magical barriers between the different Demon Worlds, which severely limit Ki detection. There is also the idea that Goku’s small body may also limit the efficiency of his instant transmission, making it only possible over short distances.

And why doesn’t he use Instant Transmission more in the middle of a fight? Let’s remember that it takes Goku a few moments of concentration while placing his fingers on his forehead to use this technique, so it’s not easy to use it against really powerful and fast opponents. This is why Goku did not use teleportation in episode 13 of ‘Dragon Ball Daima’ to reach Bulma and the others in the face of the threat of the giant dog.
