FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer (eFootball) join forces against EA Sports FC in historic deal

Without a new FIFA, Infantino’s organization is teaming up with its eternal rival to curb Electronic Arts’ success since becoming independent.

A picture is worth a thousand words. FIFA and Konami have embraced the saying “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” and have put their rivalry behind them to join forces against EA Sports FC. Infantino’s organization has chosen eFootball 2025 (the successor to the legendary Pro Evolution Soccer, PES for friends) to be its official video game in eSports. From the head-to-head between FIFA and PES to a new duel: FIFA and PES vs. EA Sports.

“Konami Digital Entertainment and FIFA announced a collaboration to continue their worldwide commitment to the advancement of esports,” Konami said in a press release. “As part of this initiative, two FIFAe World Cup featuring eFootball are scheduled to take place later this year on mobile and console. Everyone who plays eFootball is welcome to engage, so please update to the latest version of the game and challenge the world to an exciting global match.”

These tournaments (for which you can read all the information here) show that FIFA has not retired from football games and that, although it is delaying the arrival of a new game bearing its name, it has no intention of leaving the whole cake to Electronic Arts. It also proves that, despite Infantino’s mockery of EA Sports FC, the organization is aware of the successes achieved by its former partners, with whom it broke up over the gibberish described in the report “What’s happening with FIFA and EA Sports?

And in the middle of it all, Cristiano Ronaldo’s new soccer game, which our colleges in Spain have already had the chance to test exclusively, and which they have commented on in their first impressions: “the fun alternative to traditional soccer games.” Sports simulation will be fun for years to come.
