Final Fantasy 16 does not run at native 4k and struggles to reach 60 FPS
Square Enix revealed that it would reach that resolution in quality mode, but in reality it was rescaled.
The graphical modes of Final Fantasy XVI, the long-awaited new installment of Square Enix’s role-playing saga, were revealed a few months ago. However, the YouTube channel El Analista de Bits has broken down the game on a technical level and concluded that the resolution is rescaled so that it does not reach 4k natively on the PS5.
According to Square Enix, the title should run at 4k in quality mode, but in reality it stays at 1440p. In Performance Mode, the resolution was not specified, but we now know that it runs at 1080p, which is Full HD. As usual, the channel also tested the frame rate. While the resolution-centric mode stays at 30 fps, the title routinely drops below 60 fps in performance mode.
When it comes to load times, the wait is very short, one of the main advantages of the new SSD drives.
Final Fantasy 16 demo now available for PS5
Play the first hour and a half of Final Fantasy XVI thanks to the demo available for free download from PS Store. This demo includes the prologue, and the introduction to the story that tells the story of Clive Rosefield’s youth, the game’s main protagonist. In this first contact, players can familiarize themselves with the combat system, which, unlike other chapters, is focused on action.
The progression can be transferred to the final game, so when it is released, we will pick up the game from the end of the demo.
Final Fantasy XVI will be released on June 22nd exclusively for PS5.
