Final Fantasy VII Rebirth steals the SGF spotlight with a new trailer and a release window

The next part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming exclusively to PS5, and we now have a lengthy gameplay trailer.

Update:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Square Enix’s social networks have not stood still in the days leading up to the Summer Game Fest. The creators of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth hinted that there would be news soon and we have not had to wait long. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has reappeared at Geoff Keighley’s gala with an impressive and extensive trailer. Unlike the previous game, this new installment goes beyond the walls of Midgar and takes us to wide open settings full of life and vegetation. Furthermore, they confirmed that the title will be available on PS5 in early 2024.

This project is a reimagining of the original game, so they have outlined this sequel not to copy what was already done, but to expand and modify the plot of the original work. Not surprisingly, it’s so big that it comes on two Blu-Ray discs...

Why only on PS5?

The decision to launch Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth exclusively for PS5 is due to a question of power, although the first installment also came out on Sony’s previous generation machine. According to producer Yoshinori Kitase, It is not only for the graphic quality, but also for the speed of the loading times, very fast thanks to the SSD hard drive:

“As the adventure unfolds in a vast world after fleeing from Midgar, loading times are a bottleneck. We came to the conclusion that we needed the PlayStation 5 specs to avoid this and to be able to travel the world in comfort.”

In another interview, the producer mentioned they’d have news in 2023, which raised suspicions about the rumored remake of Final Fantasy IX: “The development of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which I am producing, is also accelerating,” said the developer. Added to this, we have a big announcement that we can’t say anything about yet. 2023 will be a good year for everyone, and I would like to make Final Fantasy fans excited.”

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth comes out exclusively for PS5. before that happens we will enjoy Final Fantasy XVI, available from June 22 on the Sony console.
