Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - how long is it and how far does the story go?

The highly awaited Square Enix RPG, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is finally available. How long does it take to beat? What can you expect from the story?

The duration of a video game is not an invariable entity, it depends on the design, the player’s skill, and how long each person decides to invest into secondary quests and content, among many other factors. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is by definition a long game: taking into account that it is an open-world RPG. Square Enix has not only nurtured the product with a robust main story, which takes place over many hours, but has also filled Gaia with countless mini-games and quests. To cite an example, the collectible card game that is included can keep players hooked for hours on end.

How long does it take to finish the main game?

Although it depends on the player’s skill and the chosen difficulty mode, the main story can be completed in about 30 hours, as long as the focus is only that, without entertaining yourself with anything else.

MeriStation completed almost all the secondary tasks for the first three regions, but the need to reach the release date of the review prevented following the same pace in the other remaining regions. The duration in this case was 64 hours. Those who want to discover all the secrets will have to invest more time, most likely going beyond 100 hours.

It's a really big game...

How far into the story does this sequel go?

Some may wonder how much of the original title’s story is presented in this sequel. Remake took the initial five hours of the game and turned it into a 40 hours+ story, with still the main stretch of the plot left for the 2 remaining parts of this trilogy. As Square Enix has already confirmed, this game concludes in the Forgotten City, the equivalent to the first CD of the original PlayStation version (which came on three discs).

You know. THAT part.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth continues the story of Cloud, Aeris, Tifa, Barret, and Red XIII, who meet new allies and more than one enemy along the way. The title follows the same path as Final Fantasy VII Remake, reinterpreting and expanding the story and the context of the characters.
