Final Fantasy XVI is getting a demo before launch, and progress will carry over to the full game

Square Enix has confirmed that a Final Fantasy XVI demo will be released before launch, with all progress made in it as young Clive carrying over to the full game.

There is less than a month to go until Final Fantasy XVI hits the market, but Square Enix has a surprise in store for the fans. During the preview event in which we were able to test the title, producer Naoki Yoshida confirmed that they intend to publish a demo before the release of the video game.

“We don’t have a date yet, but we plan to release this prologue as a demo so players can test the game before launch,” he said.

What will the demo consist of?

The demo will consist of the prologue, the start of Final Fantasy XVI. It’ll show us the youth of Clive Rosfield, a young teenager preparing for his future as a swordsman and protector. This is the entire section that MeriStation was able to try, and it shows the past of the character who was believed to be destined to inherit the powers of the fire Eikon, Phoenix. However, it was his little brother Yoshua who was chosen to house this indomitable spirit.

The prologue also serves for the player to familiarize themselves with the combat system, a system that relies entirely on action mechanics. At that time, the world of Valisthea was still at peace, but the delicate balance between forces was already beginning to falter. The drums of war beat over the Mother Crystals and the Aether, a natural resource crucial to humanity’s survival. What will happen to Clive and his aristocratic family? Because Clive’s father is none other than the Archduke of Rosaria... and the plot has already begun to take shape.

Final Fantasy XVI will release on June 22 exclusively for PS5. Yoshida also talked about all of the different bonus content that will be included in the final release.
