Five Nights at Freddy’s is looking like this year’s big Halloween hit in a new trailer

The movie adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s just released a new trailer showcasing The main bear himself, Foxy the Pirate, and an unexpected villain appearance.

While Willy’s Wonderland, Nicolas Cage’s version of Five Nights at Freddy’s, had eased our thirst to know anything about Freddy Fazbear in theaters, the trailers of the official film of the franchise have given us hope and show time and time again why Blumhouse is the most important horror producer of the 21st century.

The second official trailer nails the essence of the well-known video game saga and clears doubts about its director, Emma Tammi, surrounding her with a luxurious cast: Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games), Matthew Lillard (Scooby-Doo), Elizabeth Leil (You), and Kevin Foster (Iron Man) as the terrifying and memorable Freddy Fazbear.

The film will hit theaters on October 27, 2023, with a script written by Scott Cawthon himself (creator of the Five Nights at Freddy’s games) and his animatronics come from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, the group that created the Muppets and many moremovie creatures. Everything seems to indicate that video game adaptations are going to continue being on a roll.

What is Five Nights at Freddy’s?

Five Night at Freddy’s is an indie horror game series created by a single person (Scott Cawthon). Released for PC in 2014, it became popular thanks to the enormous amount of YouTubers and streamers who recorded themselves playing it for the entertainment of people. Being full of frights and jump scares, FNAF was an inexhaustible source of “let’s play”s and video-reactions that turned it into an unprecedented mass phenomenon.

Since then, the saga has launched seven main titles and three spin-offs, to which you can add all kinds of virtual reality experiences and even several novel adaptations. The series’ success has led it to rub shoulders with games that cost several million dollars, moving so many people that a few years ago, when it was revealed that Scott Cawthon supported Donald Trump, there was such a stir that the designer was forced to promise to leave the future of the franchise in other hands so as not to sink the brand.

The story of Five Nights at Freddy’s

In the first games, just as in the trailer of the film, we put ourselves at the controls of the security guard of a pizzeria who had to endure until six in the morning locked up in his security office. To spend the night we had to prevent the electricity from going out and monitor everything that happened on the premises through security cameras.

It sounds easy, but far from it, because it didn’t take long for up to five killer animatronics to hunt you down, all of them looking like stuffed animals and eager to catch us off guard. Mechanics as simple as they are effective were preserved and enhanced in the sequels, in which Freddy the Bear and company came back to haunt the player. Definitely, the stuffed animals with hats and bow ties are never harmless.
