Fortnite is preparing for the return of one of its best collaborations: The Simpsons’ Springfield map is coming back very soon

In the midst of 2026, Fortnite finds itself in a precarious state due to Epic Games’ controversial decisions: layoffs here, higher microtransaction prices there... To win back the public, drastic measures are in order, and one of them is bringing back one of the most celebrated collaborations from 2025. As a result, the Springfield map from ‘The Simpsons’ will be returning this summer, much to the delight of players of the popular battle royale.

It’s official: The Springfield map from “The Simpsons” is returning to Fortnite this summer

The announcement was made via a brief post on Fortnite’s various social media accounts. “Springfield Reloaded. Summer ’26. Yeah, we’re thinking we’re back,” the post reads. In the accompanying image, we see the new John Wick outfit from Chapter 7, Season 3 peering through a crack revealing the iconic Springfield sign from Matt Groening’s popular series.

In other words, while the new season’s map will remain in the game’s Battle Royale and Zero Build modes, it looks like Springfield will be back in the parallel Reload mode, where respawns are limited and the map is smaller than usual. In other words: ‘The Simpsons’ map we enjoyed back in late 2025 won’t be returning exactly as it was, but rather a more compact version that will still feature several of its most iconic locations, such as Evergreen Terrace and the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant.

At the time, Fortnite’s ‘The Simpsons’ mini-season was widely celebrated by players, and there was a consensus that it was one of the game’s biggest highlights since its launch in 2017. So it’s no surprise that Epic Games wants to revive one of the best chapters in the recent history of its flagship title, especially at a time when each one of its highly controversial moves is under intense scrutiny. The strategy seems clear: following a series of recent controversies, Epic wishes to win back the public’s favor by giving them exactly what they’re asking for.

Although no exact date has been announced yet for Springfield’s return to Fortnite, the original announcement has already resonated with the player base, racking up over 43,000 likes on X, which shows there’s a lot of interest in wreaking havoc once again on Evergreen Terrace and its surrounding areas. Only time will tell if this gesture of goodwill from Epic Games is a one-off or if it will be the first of several steps to help players regain their trust in the company and its immensely popular video game.
