Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live Summary: All the announcements and premieres

We tell you all about the Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live trailers and announcements. Highlights include Alan Wake II, Little Nightmares III and more.

Gamescom 2023 Opening Night Live todas las novedades resumen

Gamescom 2023 kicked off its new edition with the Opening Night Live conference, the biggest night in video games in Europe, led by producer Geoff Keighley, where we were spectators of the line-up of titles prepared for Germany’s top video game fair.

Below we have prepared a summary of more than 30 games and announcements that were made that day during the conference. The next titles coming to our consoles and PC are here.

Starfield

The conference began with the theme of Starfield, one of the most anticipated titles of the year. After this piece of music, we had the opportunity to see a new cinematic trailer for the game, which, although it did not show us any gameplay, established the feeling of exploration and adventure that the next Bethesda title is looking for.

After an incident, Todd Howard, game director of Starfield, took the stage to talk about the game, its development, and the experience they brought to Gamescom attendees.

Little Nightmares III

The first global reveal of the night came from Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games. The terrifying Little Nightmares are back. Lucas Rousell, Executive Producer at Bandai Namco Europe took the stage with Coralie Feniello, Producer at Bandai Namco Europe. They talked about the two new characters that will be available for co-op play in the game. Ahead of the game, a six-episode podcast called The Sounds of Nightmares will be released today. Little Nightmares III will be released in 2024.

Black Myth: Wukong

A brand new look of this action RPG was shown with brand new gameplay. The video showed new enemies, locations and impressive action sequences.

Killing Floor 3

An extremely bloody trailer gave us a first look at Killing Floor 3.

Age of Empires IV

A new trailer for the Xbox version of Age of Empires IV showed details about this version and how it will implement some changes to make the controls easier for players. This version is available today.

Rebel Moon

Director Zack Snyder took the stage at Opening Night Live to talk about his new project, Rebel Moon. Along with the movie, Super Evil Megacorp will be behind the development of a video game that will take place after the story of the two movies. While Snyder didn’t show anything related to the video game, the latest trailer of the Netflix movie was revealed.

Crimson Desert

An updated gameplay trailer was shown for this brand-new RPG. The fantasy world created by Pearl Abyss came to life and showed off new gameplay mechanics.

Pay Day 3

Rapper Ice -T announced that he will have a special mission on Pay Day 3. A new gameplay trailer for the game was shown.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

A new story trailer featuring Baghdad was shown during the Opening Night Live. This trailer showed the city whale Basim, the protagonist, talking about his life before the events of the game.

Tekken 8

Harada San, Tekken Director, took the stage to show a brand new trailer of the game, while also announcing that Tekken 8 will have a new single player mode called Arcade Quest, where players will create an avatar and customize their in-game character. Tekken 8 will be released on January 26, 2023, with pre-orders starting today.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III

More details about the upcoming Modern Warfare III were revealed during Opening Night Live. For the first time, the campaign will be a direct continuation of the campaign. Open combat missions were also shown as a way for players to interact with the story of the game while choosing on stealth or loud actions during the campaign. Part of the first level of the game was shown.

Nightingale

A brand new look at the survivor of the fairy world was shown, revealing new monsters and gameplay mechanics and its release date: February 22, 2024.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink

Cygames showed a new trailer for their RPG, showing impressive enemies and giving some details about the story and characters. Granblue Fantasy: Relink will be released on February 1, 2024.

Zenless Zone Zero

Zenhyu Li, producer of Zenless Zone Zero, took the stage to show off more of the latest HoYoVerse game HoyoVerse with a new trailer showing off the game’s environments, characters, and mechanics.

Honkai: Star Rail

HoYoVerse also showed a new trailer for Honkai Star Rail ahead of its release on PlayStation 5.

Genshin Impact

To celebrate its anniversary, Genshin Impact showed a brand new trailer and announced a Genshin Impact concert.

Lords of the Fallen

The first look at the story trailer of the upcoming action RPG was shown. The game will be released on October 13, 2023.

Sonic Superstars

A brand new trailer for Sonic Superstars was shown, showing off new gameplay mechanics and the game’s Battle Mode. Sonic Superstars will be released on October 17th.

Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon

A new story, new playable characters and new challenges are coming with the final update to Sonic Frontiers.

The First Descendant

The first look at the upcoming shooter from Nexon Games was shown. The crossplay open beta will be available from September 15th to 19th.

Fort Solis

The game starring Troy Baker, Roger Clark, and Julia Brown was released today on PlayStation 5. The three actors took the stage to talk about the production of the game and show a new trailer.

Expeditions A Mudrunner Game

Developed by Saber and Focus, this new expedition game where we will use vehicles to discover brand new places.

The Crew Motorfest

Ubisoft took the stage to show a brand new trailer for The Crew Motorfest and its colorful and stunning environments. The Crew Motorfest arrives on September 14th, with a 5 hour free trial between September 14th and 17th.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

A new look at this game expansion has shown off the new ways to play and changes in gameplay mechanics that this game will bring. The trailer shows off new weapons, mechanics, vehicles, and more. Julia Pryimak, Gameplay Designer at CD Projekt Red, took the stage to talk more about these brand-new gameplay mechanics. Update 2.0, which will bring some of these gameplay changes, is also coming to the

Stormgate

The RTS created by Frost Giant Studios, showed some details of one of the gameplay and music details of the game, promising new details before the end of the year.

Last Epoch

Judd Cobler, CEO of Eleventh Hour Games, took the stage to talk about their action RPG, give details on their detailed tree skill, and show off their new class, Runemaster.

Marvel Snap

Ben Brode took the stage to announce that Marvel Snap is now available on Steam.

Armored Core VI

A brand new trailer for From Software’s mecha game was shown a few days before its release.

Warhaven

A melee multiplayer PVP game will be released as a free-to-play game on September 21st.

Mortal Kombat 1

Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat, took the stage to show more details about Mortal Kombat 1 with a brand new trailer, including details about the game’s story and brand new and returning characters.

ARA History Untold

After almost a year since its announcement, ARA History Untold a turn-based strategy game set in alternate history, showed a brand new gameplay glimpse. ARA will be released in 2024.

Diablo IV

The first look at Diablo IV Season 2 Season of Blood has been revealed with a brand new trailer. The season will be released on October 17th. Eris, a vampire hunter, will join the story for this season.

Dustborn

A cel-shaded experience where words have an impact - literally - debuted at Gamescom.

Thank Goodness You’re Here

A very colorful and strange animated game, Thank Goodness, You’re Here debuted during this presentation.

Alan Wake 2

Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy Entertainment, took the stage to talk about the story of Alan Wake and the dark place the character is now in for the sequel.

As a final announcement during Opening Night Life 2023, Geoff Keighley announced that The Game Awards will be held on December 7, 2023.
