Gears of War Reloaded is a reality, and the franchise will debut on the PS5

Rumors of a new Gears of War remaster that would bring back the original trilogy with graphical improvements circulated for a long time. The announcement of Gears of War: E-Day sparked hope that this would happen, refreshing fans’ memories of the events that took place 20 years ago on the Xbox 360. However, Xbox surprised everyone by announcing the release of Gears of War: Reloaded, which will arrive on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox Cloud Gaming and bring the franchise to Steam and PlayStation 5.

The classic Gears of War is now available to everyone

Through social media, Xbox announced Gears of War: Reloaded, an enhanced version of the original Gears of War. It will be available on August 26, 2025, for the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PlayStation 5, and Steam. It will also be available on day one with Game Pass Ultimate. The game will cost $39.99. As a gesture of gratitude to fans of the series, those who owned Gears of War: Ultimate Edition before this announcement will receive Reloaded as a free upgrade.

What’s included in Gears of War: Reloaded?

This version includes all the content from Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, including the story mode with all the post-launch downloadable content, maps, and multiplayer modes. All the classic characters are also unlocked. Additionally, since it will be available on all consoles, the game will have cross-play for all modes, including the campaign and multiplayer, without requiring a Microsoft account.

In addition, the game will feature graphical improvements, delivering in this version:

  • 4K resolution
  • 60 FPS in Campaign
  • 120 FPS in Multiplayer
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR)
  • Dolby Vision & 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos
  • 7.1.4 3D Spatial Audio
  • Variable Refresh Rate (VRR)
  • 4K assets and remastered textures
