George R.R. Martin confirms who would win a battle between Aragorn and Jaime Lannister: “Armor was invented for a reason”

The author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ reflects on the importance of armor.

Aragorn y Jaime Lannister

Strider or the Kingslayer, Aragorn or Jaime Lannister. They belong to two different fantasy universes (‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Game of Thrones’), but George R.R. Martin has added his opinion on who would win in a battle. The author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ has swept for home and is clear who is the one who would win in a contest, of course, on equal terms. That is, when Jaime still had both hands. In response to a fan, the author said the following: “I think Jaime would probably take Aragorn, especially if he was allowed to be armored.”

For Martin, “armor was invented for a reason. It’s good to wear it when you’re fighting with sharp pieces of metal.” In the video, the author reflects on the importance of armor, one of the reasons why Jaime would have more options against Aragorn, according to his reasoning. Of course, not everyone agrees with him, especially Lord of the Rings fans. Aragorn is a Dunedain with much more experience and unparalleled skill with the sword, which does not mean that the son of Tywin Lannister is a one-armed man with a sword (no pun intended).

The Showdown Could Have Been Reality in MultiVersus

No one knows for sure who would win in a battle, but that’s something that could have been emulated if Multiversus hadn’t been a flop. Warner Bros. Games' Super Smash Bros. pitted characters from different sagas against each other, but neither Aragorn nor Jaime Lannister were part of the cast of playable characters, and will no longer be, as the game will be shutting down its servers on May 30th.
